Laura Graham DVM (Global Health) MRCVS Veterinary Surgeon

My journey to qualifying as a vet started when I was growing up in the United Arab Emirates. My family were heavily involved in animal charities for as long as I can remember. I volunteered across fund raising, trapping and fostering stray cats. It never ceased to amaze me how resilient animals could be against disease and injury.

I moved back to the United Kingdom to start my studies at the University of Nottingham where I received an Undergraduate Certificate in Pre-Veterinary Medicine. I went on to become a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine, graduating from St. Georges University in the West Indies in 2022. During this time I spent a year in clinics at the University College Dublin's Veterinary Hospital. My rescue cat, Dodge, has been my inspiration and motivation through my studies. I adopted him as a very poorly kitten when I was living in Abu Dhabi; he recovered with devoted care, although has been left with some life long abnormalities.

In my spare time I have to keep my hands busy with various crafts. I imagine this is where I developed my love for surgery and the practical aspects of my day to day job! Outside of work, I volunteer for Guide Dogs UK as a puppy raiser alongside my parents; assisting with their training and exercise.
