We appreciate that cats and dogs are often not comfortable in each others company and so we have separate wards and operating facilities for each of them so they never meet during their stay with us.
Both our dog and cat wards are individually temperature controlled with heating for the winter and air-conditioning in the summer. They have hygeinic stainless steel kennels which are fitted with waterproof mattresses and fleece beds for dogs, and blankets and dens for cats. All are glass fronted rather than barred. Our cat ward is also soundproof and overlooked by our nursing station through a window, so our feline patients can be closely monitored without stressing them.
Any patients kept in overnight will be monitored at regular intervals dependent upon their medical need and we are very proud to have our own resident night nursing team at the Weymouth surgery out of hours.
