June has arrived in a flurry of showers and strong winds.  It may not feel very summery but don’t be deceived, we are seeing all the usual seasonal problems especially grass seeds. Grass seeds or more correctly awns can work their way into the skin or into any body opening and cause all sorts of problems for your pet.  Occasionally these problems can be life threatening.  Have a read of our news item on how best to protect your pet from this summer menace.

Who would have thought that our recent article on adder bites would generate so much interest in the press.  Following the flurry of interest from local and regional media we have now been contacted again by the BBC as they have received a report from a vet in the New Forest where they had 4 dogs bitten by adders in one day and also had a fatality.  Take a look at our original news item on the danger of adders and our 15 minutes of fame!

We have been working very hard on improving the veterinary experience for our cat patients and it is now official – we are a Gold Standard Cat Friendly practice!  You can see just how this affects you and your cat by reading all about it in our news item.

We are delighted to be sponsoring 2 different pet related awards in the next few months.Local hero Hayley dent  Last year we sponsored the Animal & Rural award in Wessex FM’s Local Hero Awards which was won by Hayley’s Hedgehogs.  This year the category has been changed to just the Animal Award and you have the chance to nominate a person or an animal that you feel has gone above and beyond or overcome a particularly difficult situation.  The entries are now closed and we will be taking part in the judging over the next couple of weeks.   Click here to read more about the Local Hero Awards
